I got into book binding while living out of country, on a student visa. I frequented an art store in my main street town, called The Colour Jar. I had made a couple books as gifts during a very poor Christmas, and decided that I'd like to learn more. The owner, and now role model and friend, agreed to apprentice me in the art of bookbinding in exchange for work at the shop.
I'd love to have book binding as my "real job". For now it's a slow growing side business that supports a little more than itself and clutters a room in my house.
I'm based in Shepherdstown, WV for now, married to a doula, and have a fantastic little girl, and two cats.
